Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome to Salt Room Whitby! Below are answers to some of the most common questions we receive. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact us or ask during your visit.
What is halotherapy?
Halotherapy, also known as salt therapy, is a natural wellness practice that involves breathing in micro-particles of pharmaceutical-grade dry salt in a controlled environment. It’s known to support respiratory health, skin conditions, and overall well-being.
What is the Salt Room experience like?
Our Salt Room is a peaceful space where you relax in a comfortable chair and breathe in dry salt air. The session lasts about 45 minutes, and you can read, meditate, or simply unwind while the salt works its magic.
What is the Salt Detox Room?
Our Salt Detox Room features two individual seats, each equipped with hand and foot salt domes. These gently heated domes allow you to absorb minerals through your skin while promoting circulation, detoxification, and deep relaxation.
What are the benefits of halotherapy?
Halotherapy may help:
Clear mucus and reduce inflammation in the respiratory tract
Improve symptoms of asthma, allergies, bronchitis, and sinusitis
Enhance skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and acne
Boost mood, relaxation, and sleep quality
What are the benefits of the Salt Detox Room?
The Salt Detox Room focuses on localized salt therapy through your hands and feet, which may:
Support detoxification
Improve circulation
Soothe joint or muscle discomfort
Promote relaxation and grounding
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing. In the Salt Room, the salt is not messy and won’t get on your clothes. For the Salt Detox Room, your hands and feet will be exposed, so we recommend wearing loose-fitting pants and easy-to-remove footwear.
Is halotherapy safe for children?
Yes! Halotherapy is safe and often beneficial for children, especially those with asthma or allergies. We do recommend parental supervision during sessions.
How often should I come for sessions?
The frequency can vary based on your wellness goals. Some clients come weekly, while others with chronic conditions may benefit from several sessions per week. We’re happy to discuss a personalized plan with you.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, we are open by appointment only and recommend booking in advance to ensure availability, especially for the Salt Detox Room as it has limited seating.
Can I combine a Salt Room session with the Salt Detox Room?
Absolutely! Many clients enjoy the full-body benefits of halotherapy followed by the focused detox effects of the Salt Detox Room. Ask us about packages or scheduling back-to-back sessions.
Are there any medical conditions where I should avoid halotherapy?
Halotherapy is generally well-tolerated, but we recommend speaking with your healthcare provider if you have any serious health concerns such as active infections, fever, or open wounds before using our services.
